We drove down to LA from San Francisco to witness a very special Solemn High Pontifical Mass yesterday (June 26, 2016) that was celebrated by His Excellency, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Astana, Kazakhstan. It was organized by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter in Los Angeles (FSSP LA), headed by the Rev. Fr. It was a blessing to witness the conferral of the Sacrament of Confirmation by his Excellency, the Most Reverend Myron Cotta, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Sacramento, to a large number of Confirmandi (50 in all!) at St. Stephen the First Martyr, an apostolate parish of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) at Sacramento, CA last March 13, 2016. Assisting the Bishop were Rev. John Lyons, FSSP, Rev. Lee Perry, and Rev. Zachary Akers, FSSP. TLMS of SF Coverage of the 2016 Walk For Life West Coast!

It was a full day for us last Saturday (Jan. 23, 2016), as we started the day getting organized for the Walk For Life Info Faire at Civic Center Plaza. This is what we’ve been doing for the past couple of years before the Walk For Life Program, where we display and distribute materials, flyers, brochures on the Traditional Latin Mass, along with 50 other vendors (ranging from pro-life pregnancy clinics to Diocesan and religious communities). We also volunteered to take photos of our fellow vendors at the Info Faire. We started to pack our display when the program started, which included an impressive line up of speakers such as Obianuju Ekeocha of Culture of Life Africa, Mexican musical superstar and pro-life activist Emmanuel, and also David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress (well known for his undercover videos on Planned Parenthood’s selling of body parts of aborted babies). Inspite of the rainy weather at the onstart of the Walk (it eventually stopped), it didn’t prevent several thousands of pro-lifers from filling up the streets of downtown San Francisco! It was also edifying to see various Traditional Latin Mass communities (specially the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and this year, the participation of more than 500 people from the Society of St. Pius X, where the Superior General, Bishop Bernard Fellay was present); walking side by side for the sanctity of life! After the Walk, we proceeded to the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi for a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form that was celebrated by Fr. Anthony M., OFM Conv., with assistance of Fr. Zachary Akers, FSSP, and Fr. Ashley Perry from St. Stephen’s. Music was provided by the St Ann Choir of Palo Alto and directed by Prof. William Mahrt. We will be uploading shortly the video of Fr. Anthony’s sermon.

In the meantime, below are some of the photos we took. Photos can be downloaded and shared, though we are only requesting photo credits to go to the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco. More photos can be viewed at our smugmug photo gallery. Click here for the photo albums of the Info Faire, Walk For Life Program, and Solemn High Mass. But be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s walk, which will take place on January 21, 2017!

Info Faire Tent. There were two rows of tents setup across the Civic Center Plaza for various organizations.

The Gabriel Project, one of our booth neighbors, a parish-based ministry for pregnant mothers in need.

Our booth!! Filled with leaflets, flyers, brochures on the Traditional Latin Mass, plus a few sweets given out to everyone passing by!

High Mass with Fr. John M. Berg, FSSP Superior General at Fresno, CA (Video and photos)

On November 15, 2015 (25th Sunday after Pentecost), the Very Reverend John M. Berg, Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), celebrated a High Mass in the Extraordinary Form at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fresno, CA, USA. Mass was followed by a special dinner at the nearby Saint Agnes Mission Hall, organized by our friends at the Fresno Traditional Mass Society. Father Berg then gave a short talk on the topic “The Family and the Traditional Mass”.

It was also at this event, that an announcement was made on the launching of a capital campaign to help establish a Traditional Latin Mass parish in the Diocese of Fresno. The Most Reverend Bishop Armando Ochoa has given the Fresno Traditional Latin Mass Society (FTLMS) permission to begin collecting donations to purchase a church. This parish will be like no other in the city of Fresno-dedicated to a full parish life centered on the Extraordinary Form liturgy! A traditional Latin Mass parish will be open to all Catholics, and will add to the Diocese of Fresno’s rich diversity. For more information or to make a contribution, please visit the Fresno Latin Mass Capital Campaign’s website.

Full HD video of the High Mass can be viewed here, while photos of the High Mass and Dinner can be accessed here and here.

URGENT: Caution about the “Latin Mass Society”

12170367_10153670369757400_550602127_n

We have recently received alarming information about the “Latin Mass Society” being run by Anthony Perlas that has an online presence on various social media websites (facebook, etc). We originally heard about them from their chapel veils project that was initially promoted on other Catholic websites. Unfortunately it has deteriorated and seriously reached new lows (as Fr. Fryar describes here). We encourage others to be vigilant and spread this warning around.

Updates on Fr. Peter Carota

CLICK HERE FOR AN UPDATE (as of 6/21/2016) on Fr. Peter Carota’s health

We visited Fr. Carota this week, alongside with Fr. John Lyons (F.S.S.P.), where we got a chance to pray the rosary with him. He had requested us to thank all you readers for your continued support and prayers. Fr. Carota feels weaker each day, and continues to offer up his suffering. He has tried to follow all the things that his doctors advised (his own brother is a doctor), but no relief seems to be in sight. He feels like as if he’s dying, but at the same time, some sort of health improvement comes along the way. Prayers taking effect perhaps? Today, being the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, please offer up some extra rosaries for his healing and recovery; and if you get a chance to go to Mass, even better!

If you would like to send Father a card, please request his address by clicking here (put a comment on Jonathan Byrd’s blog entry).
