From the Desk of the Oratory Chaplain, Canon Raphael Ueda:

The old year is coming to a close and the new year, A.D. 2016, will begin very soon. The term A.D. stands for Anno Domini, a Latin phrase meaning “in the year of the Lord” which is often translated “in the year of Our Lord”. At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus. With His coming, the Old Covenant came to an end, and the New Covenant, the new time of salvation, arrived. So we see the end of the old and the beginning of the new. Thus it is that the season of Christmas brings with it both a sense of closure as well as a sense of expectation. It is a time to look back with gratitude and to look forward with anticipation. By the grace of God we made it through 2015 together, and now we look ahead to 2016, which will begin very soon. May the breath of the Holy Ghost refresh and renew our hearts during this holy season and throughout the coming year.

June is the month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

ICRChicago_Divine-Infant-King

June is the month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. As we transition from the season of spring to summer, and embrace the warmth of God’s unconditional love, let us in return show our great love and devotion through the Sacred of Heart of the Infant King. http://infantkingoffering.org/

Join us at the Shrine of Christ the King and participate in the monthly novena to the Infant King from June 17th to June 25th. The Christ Child has promised us, “The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.”

While you meditate on the Most Sacred Heart’s divine love for all of humanity, please prayerfully consider offering a candle or flower in honor of the Infant King, as a visible symbol of your love, devotion and thanksgiving. Your intentions will be placed at the foot of the altar of Christ our Infant King and will be remembered on the 25th of June during a Solemn High Mass, offered for your petitions.https://infantkingoffering.org/offering
