During the recent Chapter meeting at the Motherhouse in Gricigliano, Italy, the Prior General, Monsignor Gilles Wach, has made new appointments for the leadership of the Institute’s American province. After fifteen years as provincial superior in the United States, Monsignor Michael Schmitz has been assigned to increased duties in the Institute’s European provinces. Thus, the Prior General has appointed Canon Matthew Talarico, who has served as vice-provincial for the past five years, as the new provincial of the American Province. Monsignor Schmitz remains as Vicar General of the Institute worldwide and is now the Delegate of the Prior General for the United States and the Provincial of France. Monsignor Schmitz will continue to visit the American Province, as he will do this October, and will assist Canon Talarico to guide the work of the Institute in the United States. Asking for your prayers, the superiors, canons, and oblates thank you wholeheartedly for your support and assistance of the Institute’s mission at the service of the Church.
